Community Day 2026 Saturday, November 7

Once a year, the Open Home Foundation community comes together in cities all over the world to meet, share, and connect. Mark your calendar!

What is Community Day?

Community Day is a worldwide event for people who use Open Home Foundation projects. It’s your chance to get together with fellow fans in your area, swap hardware, show off your automations, run quizzes or presentations, and generally connect with others who share your enthusiasm. There’s no fixed format – you can shape your event however you (and your guests) like!

But what makes Community Day really special is that on this one day, your local gathering is part of something much bigger: you’re joining communities all over the world in a global celebration of privacy, choice, and sustainability in the smart home.

What’s new in 2026?

When it comes to Community Day, bigger is better! So we’re leveling up both the event and the hosting experience with some exciting changes:

Open door

Last year’s Community Day was Home Assistant-specific. This year, we’re inviting communities from all of the foundation’s major projects – now, if you want to host an ESPHome or Music Assistant meetup, you can!

More support

We’re rolling out a dedicated Community Meetups Playbook with clearer reimbursement guidelines, and a proper merchandise request form, to make running your event feel super smooth.

A new look

We’ve refreshed the event’s palette to represent the whole foundation, with the colors we use for one of our three core principles: sustainability – because it’s our community who sustains us 💚

We hope these improvements will encourage even more community members to get involved this year!

Got some questions?

Where can I find more information about setting up a Community Day meetup for 2026?

Check out the blog post from Missy, Community Manager at the Open Home Foundation, which details the process of getting started and what to expect as a host.

I’d like to share my event with my local community. Do you have a list of regional communities available?

Absolutely – in the FAQ of the Home Assistant Community webpage, you’ll find a list of regional Home Assistant communities. If yours is missing, please email us at with a link to it so we can update the list!

I missed the deadline to request official merchandise from the Open Home Foundation. Can I still order from the official store and get reimbursed?

Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse any purchases made from our official store. However, if you email us at , we will send you the official assets to help you produce your own merch and will reimburse you for those purchases.

What if I need some more help?

The #community-day channel in Discord is where you can chat with other hosts to share ideas for activities you’ll have at your meetups, and make threads to talk more closely with your own guests. I’ll hang out in there as well to answer any questions you may have, and keep hosts updated on the latest news. If you don’t have Discord, or simply prefer email communications, we’ll happily provide the same support when you email us at .
